He teaches landscapes, still life, portraiture, and classical drawing at The Atelier at Flowerfield, the National Art League, and the Art League of Long Island on Long Island, New York.
Bill’s artistic journey began with classical training in drawing and Old Master painting at the Art Students League of New York, followed by advanced studies at the Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy. He launched a successful career as a freelance illustrator, creating artwork for major publishers including Harlequin Enterprises, Thomas Nelson, and Bethany House Publishers. His illustration work earned him the prestigious Christy Award for Best Christian Book Cover Design and Illustration.
Throughout his career, Bill has remained dedicated to fine art, completing portrait commissions, public and private murals, and exhibiting his work nationally and internationally. One of his notable commissions—a mural depicting the children of Theodore Roosevelt in the White House—was displayed at the National Museum of American History.
Known for his versatility, Bill paints everything from highly detailed portraiture to expressive plein air landscapes. He regularly leads painting workshops and art retreats, guiding students through inspiring locations including Tuscany, Provence, Greece, Barcelona, and the rugged coast of Maine.
His work has received numerous honors, including awards from the Richeson75 International Portrait & Figure Competition, the International Miniature Portrait Show, the Art Students League of New York, and regional art organizations throughout New York. His painting Orange earned Best in Show at the 2019 Small Works Exhibition, and he is also a recipient of the distinguished Frank J. Reilly Scholarship Award.
Bill is passionate about preserving the traditions of classical art while helping students of all levels develop strong technical skills, artistic confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for painting and drawing.

"Thank you so much for this special painting. I waited for my husband Eric to open the package together. I started crying when I saw it. In addition to being the perfect memory for us, the colors in the painting are favorites. We will hold this dear always...Thank you for sharing this moment in time with us! With gratitude and kind regards". Jen & Eric/Buyers of a plein air painting done in Newport, R.I. 2022
